One of the great stalwarts of Lodge Ponsonby No.708 recently passed, leaving us with teary eyes and fond memories.  Brother Jim Lyne was the epitome of a true freemason … always present, always giving his absolute best effort and always fun to be around.  Jimmy is remembered for his hands-on contribution to refurbishing the Scottish Masonic Centre at 59 Grey St in Onehunga in former times, as well as his generosity in personally paying for regalia for the Lodge more recently.  Jim was lovingly supported by his wife, Jackie who hand-knitted countless dolls for children at Kidz First hospital.  Jim was tireless in supporting District Grand Lodge visits around the North Island and, in particular, his diligence in managing the large amount of District regalia as it moved from person to person over successive years.  Anyone who aims to be ‘the perfect mason’ only needs to look to Jim Lyne as the exemplar.  Farewell old friend.
